This is the Main Event of the Helsinki Coffee Week that you do NOT want to miss!

During this whole-day event, we’ll find out who will take home the 2024 Roasters Challenge Champion title AND the title of the 8th annual Finnish Moccamaster Champion!

Expect Roasters Challenge competition coffee cuppings, masterful recipe manipulation of Moccamaster Competitors and some proper stardust at the Specialty Coffee Gala, where we’ll reveal the 30 Best Cafés 2024 list voted by industry professionals!

The bar of Konttori will be open throughout the whole event for some drinks and snacks - and obviously, coffee! There will also be some activations by our partners at the event.

CCF is the new SCA Finland! Since 2020, there haven’t been any Specialty Coffee Association(SCA) sanctioned competitions in Finland. Coffee Competitions Finland ry (CCF) is a new organization committed to bringing back the SCA sanctioned competitions to Finland, but starting in a way that’s accessible and approachable.

How? Well by organizing two “Mock Competitions” around the Brewers Cup (26.10.) and Cup Tasters (1.11) formats. These are introductory events to these two fascinating competition formats. In Mock Cup Tasters, competitors will need to identify an odd cup out from 3 cup triangles that have two cups of the same coffee and one odd cup. There are five (5) triangles on the competition table, competitors will have 5 minutes to taste, and they will get points from two categories: the amount of odd cups identified and time it takes them to complete the 5 triangles.

Competition spots are full but if you’re interested in watching the event, join us at the brand new Heritage Cafe in Kamppi and cheer for your favourite competitor to win the first ever Cup Tasters* competition in years!

On Friday, November 1st, we’ll be collaborating with our friends from Makea Coffee Roasters for a special bar takeover at El Fant from 13:00 to 17:00.

Visa, the founder of Makea Coffee Roasters, will be personally brewing pour-over coffee using exclusive Costa Rican beans, including the Geisha variety. We’ll also be serving their classic “Club” coffee from Guatemala.

WE RUN HELSINKI RUNNING CLUB will kick off their free, monthly running clubs with a morning run on November 1st at 08:00.

The first Club Run is hosted in collaboration with Helsinki Coffee Week and Sävy. The start and end point will be Sävy’s café on Aleksis Kiven katu 12.

The hosts are Tero Forsberg & Aki Nummela from Runner’s High Podcast and to honor the 100th episode of the podcast, all participants will get a free coffee on Tero at Sävy after the run!

There are spots for 40 first sign ups. Two pace groups; Aki’s morning run (approx. 5.30/km) and Tero’s Threshold (approx. 7.00/km).

As a part of Helsinki Coffee Week, Kaffecentralen will host a laid-back session around their La Marzocco home machine line up! In this session, you will learn about dialing in espresso recipe using La Marzocco’s newest additions to home machines like Linea Mini R, Linea Micra and Pico grinder. The Kaffecentralen staff will teach you how the machines work.

If you’ve ever wanted to get a chance to actually try a La Marzocco espresso machine yourself, this is your chance!

The event is free and open for anyone to attend. No prior coffee experience is required and there’s no sign up for the event.

Join a free and laid-back demonstration of how to brew coffee with FLO and Kono brewers. Finnish Coffee Guy aka. Henri Löppönen will host the demonstration and explain the unique qualities of the two brewers and how they differ from each other.

The event is hosted in Sävy and it’s free to attend by anyone with no need for sign up. No prior coffee experience is needed.

Cookies & Coffee 

Through generations, it’s been proven to be an unbeatable duo. Next week Lykke Helsinki is teaming up with Ne Keksit ( @ne.keksit ) to host the cutest after-work event of the season, where they’ve curated delightful coffee & cookie pairings for all the autumn-loving besties!

As a plus, there will be an extended Happy (Lykke) Hour at the bar, making it the perfect way to kick off your Halloween weekend after work fun!

In honour of La Torrefazione celebrating our 15-year anniversary this year we'd like to host an open cupping of our current coffee selection at the café where it all started, on the second floor over Aleksanterinkatu!

So grab a friend and come enjoy the atmosphere, try some amazing coffees and maybe learn a thing or two about how we professionally taste coffee. 

This event is open to anybody that's interested and no prior coffee experience is needed, our head barista will be your coffee guide throughout the event.

Having recently opened a satellite office in Helsinki, Noordpoort Coffee, a green coffee importer and wholesaler based in The Netherlands, is proud to host our first public cupping in Finland.

As one of, if not the, first coffee importer to run operations in Finland, we’re happy to invite anyone interested in tasting our first selections of coffee available in the country. Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya and Brazil will be represented, featuring a range of processes including washed, natural and anaerobic coffees.

The good people of Andante, recently celebrating their 10th anniversary and consistently voted one of Finland’s best cafes, have granted us the time and space to hold the cupping on Wednesday 30th of October from 16:30.

Proceedings should last an hour and a half and is open to all interested in learning more about Noordpoort Coffee and our new operations in Finland. Beverages and snacks provided to any hungry and thirsty attendees too!

From most notable cafés around to World to the biggest hospitality expos, coffee cocktails have been a talking point during the past few years. In addition to traditional Espresso Martinis and Irish Coffees, new and creative ways to incorporate Specialty Coffee into cocktails has started appearing on high-end bar menus.

In collaboration with our Main Sponsor Oatly, Helsinki Coffee Week will invite a group of industry professionals to learn about using coffee in cocktails from Mika Ammunét, the co-founder of one of the coolest new cocktail bars in Helsinki, Bar Mate! Mika was the Finnish representative at esteemed World Class competition in 2021 and has since ran Bar Mate with his partner & team, a bar known for it’s laid back feel, tasty treats from the kitchen and first and foremost, their highball-focused cocktail menu.

Mika will curate a 2-3 hour workshop where we’ll dive deep into mixology and how to use coffee in cocktails in both traditional as well as new and creative ways.

The Cupping Club is a free coffee tasting event held once a month here at Kaffa. In honor of Helsinki Coffee Week, we now want to organize two mini-versions of the Cupping Club on Tuesday, October 29th at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM in the Showroom at the Kaffa Roastery bar. This time, our classics will be featured on the cupping table. Our classics include treats for every taste, so come find out which one is your favorite! No registration is required for the event, just show up!

Are you an aspirin coffee enthusiast who wants to learn more about Specialty Coffee? Are you a seasoned professional who just can’t get enough about tasting different coffees and hearing stories about it?

In either case, this workshop is for you!

Join us in the introductory workshop Coffee Origins hosted by an industry legend Levi Nascimento of Cafetoria Roastery at their café in Töölö.

In this workshop, Levi will go through the history of coffee and what makes different coffees taste the way they do. You’ll get to taste bunch of different kinds of specialty coffees and the reasons behind the flavour differences. No prior experience with coffee is needed, just a curious mind and love for good coffee!

Cupping session and Q&A with Samuli Pääkkönen, a founder and roaster of Frukt Coffee Roasters from Turku, hosted by one of the most notable Specialty Coffee cafés in Finland, Kahvila Sävy.

Frukt Coffee Roasters is a small Specialty Coffee roasting company based in Turku, Finland.After working as a roaster at the local Turun Kahvipaahtimo and later on at the Coffee Collective in Copenhagen Samuli Pääkkönen founded Frukt Coffee Roasters in his home town of Turku in the late 2018.

To kick off Helsinki Coffee Week 2024, the iconic Finnish roastery Paulig will open their doors for a limited amount of visitors! The program will consist of a tour to see Paulig’s production facilities and roastery museum which will be hosted by Paulig’s Taste Expert Laura Kietäväinen and an introduction to coffee quality control and the work of a professional coffee taster hosted by an industry icon, Paulig’s Head Of Cupping Marja Touri.
